BetterVent mounts near your dryer and connects with standard dryer ducting, creating a shorter, more accessible vent path.
As the dryer runs, warm air passes through BetterVent's patented filtration system, helping capture lint before it can build up in long ducts or hard-to-reach spaces.
The filter is easy to access, so lint maintenance becomes part of a simple routine. Clean or vacuum the filter about every 6-10 dryer loads, or whenever it becomes visibly loaded with lint. Keeping the filter clean helps reduce restricted airflow, one of the key dryer vent fire risk concerns.
When lint builds up, airflow can become restricted, which may cause dryers to run hotter and create a fire safety concern. BetterVent helps make lint easier to access, filter, and clean while supporting a shorter, more manageable vent path for electric dryers.
Install BetterVent on a vertical wall as close as possible to your electric dryer, at a height that is easy to access for routine cleaning and filter maintenance.
Connect one end of a standard 4-inch metal dryer duct to your electric dryer's exhaust outlet, using the shortest practical path and securing the connection with a hose clamp.
Lead the duct to BetterVent and secure it to the unit, keeping the exhaust line short, clear, and free of unnecessary bends or restrictions.
Helps manage lint buildup and support safer airflow for electric dryers.
Vent indoors without the water bucket mess or excess lint in your laundry space.
Patented, Made in USA design built for dependable everyday dryer venting.
Simple setup with replaceable filters that make upkeep quick and straightforward.

The BetterVent should be installed upright and off the floor so the patented Safety Exhaust Flap and filter can function properly and so lint and moisture do not collect in the housing. We do not recommend installing it sideways, laying it flat on the ground, or placing it low where it may be blocked, kicked, exposed to standing moisture, or harder to monitor and clean. For best performance, mount it vertically in an accessible location with enough clearance to open the front and replace the filter.
We do not recommend installing it through a wall to heat other rooms. BetterVent should remain accessible in the dryer area for filter changes and monitoring. If your goal is to recover heat, the safer approach is to keep the unit accessible in the laundry area and use a fan to help distribute the heat throughout the area.
The Safety Exhaust Flap (SEF) is there as a backup airflow path. If the BetterVent's normal outlet path becomes restricted or blocked, the flap can open to let air escape instead of forcing pressure to build up inside the duct system. In normal operation, the flap stays closed and the airflow is directed through the BetterVent. It is not a motorized or electronic part; it is simply a passive safety feature designed to help relieve airflow if there is restricted airflow.
BetterVent does not contain electronics, wiring, motors, or moving powered components. It is essentially a passive plastic ABS duct, so many of the certifications customers commonly ask about, such as UL electrical listing or FCC certification, are not applicable. That said, code requirements can vary depending on where and how it is installed, so if your project requires a specific certification or code approval, we recommend checking with the local authority having jurisdiction or your HVAC/building professional.
BetterVent filters are sized and selected specifically for the BetterVent housing, so we recommend using the official replacement filters to ensure proper fit, airflow, and performance. Generic filters may look similar, but if the size, thickness, or material is different, they could restrict airflow or fail to capture lint properly. Replacement filters are available directly from us.
